Inkature is a community for writers at every stage — from journaling in private to publishing professionally. These guidelines exist to keep this a safe, supportive space where everyone can share their work and progress without fear of harassment or harm. They apply to all content you post: feed updates, project descriptions, comments, messages, and profile information.
Inkature is built for writers who are often sharing vulnerable, in-progress work. Respond with encouragement and constructive feedback. Criticism should be thoughtful and invited — not unsolicited or harsh. Celebrate others' milestones, even small ones.
Harassment, bullying, threats, and hate speech have no place here. This includes content that demeans, attacks, or discriminates against individuals or groups on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other characteristic. One-off rudeness and sustained targeted behaviour are both violations.
Sexual and pornographic content is not permitted anywhere on Inkature — not in posts, profile pictures, project covers, project descriptions, or the writing you share. This is a firm, zero-tolerance rule with no exceptions. Content that sexualises minors is a permanent ban and will be reported to authorities.
Serious writing sometimes explores difficult, mature subject matter — violence, trauma, substance abuse, dark or disturbing themes. You may discuss and write about these themes, but you must mark such content as mature so readers can choose whether to engage. Use the "Mark as mature" option when posting, and toggle "Mature content" on any project that explores these themes. Readers will see a warning before the content is revealed. Note: marking something mature never permits sexual content — that remains banned regardless of any label. Deliberately posting mature content without the disclaimer is a violation.
Do not flood the feed with repetitive posts, unsolicited promotions, or affiliate links. Sharing your own work or projects is absolutely welcome when it adds value to the community. Automated posting, coordinated inauthentic behaviour, and fake engagement (buying likes, botting) are prohibited.
Do not share another person's private information without their clear consent — this includes real names, addresses, phone numbers, financial information, or private messages (doxxing). Do not screenshot and repost private content without permission.
Post only content you have the right to share. Do not copy and paste others' writing and pass it off as your own. If you quote or excerpt another work, attribute it clearly. Repeat infringement will result in account suspension.
Do not impersonate another person, author, public figure, or organisation. Parody accounts must be clearly labelled. Do not spread deliberately false information about real people or events in a way designed to cause harm.
Do not post links to phishing sites, malware, or any content designed to deceive or harm. Links to illegal content — piracy, drug markets, etc. — are also prohibited.
If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the report button on any post or profile. Our moderation team reviews every report. Violations may result in content removal, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban depending on severity. Serious or illegal content (CSAM, credible threats of violence) is escalated immediately.
If you believe a moderation action was made in error, or have questions about these guidelines, reach out to us. We review appeals carefully and aim to respond within 3 business days.
